Traditional Metal Braces
These braces have been around for decades. Metal brackets are first bonded to the teeth. Wires then connect the brackets and are secured to the brackets with elastic bands.
Self-Ligating Braces / Damon Self-Ligating Braces
“Ligating” refers to the process of fastening wire to the brackets used in braces. Self-ligating braces don’t require elastic bands because the wire clips into the bracket, so it “self-ligates.”
Why we offer Damon Braces:
- Less friction causing the teeth to move quickly and comfortably with much less pain than traditional braces reducing treatment time by approximately four to six months
- Less need to extract teeth to create space
- Wider smile can be obtained with Damon braces without using expanders
- Fewer adjustments required therefore fewer visits
- No elastic ties around the bracket, which collect plaque, accumulate bacteria, and often discolor the braces. This makes dental cleanliness much easier.
Lingual Braces
These braces are bonded to the back of the teeth so they don’t show. Dr. Al uses a brand of lingual braces called Incognito™.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are much less obvious than metal braces because the brackets are transparent and the wires are tooth-colored.
